Method
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
Prepare the Jicama
- Peel the jicama using a vegetable peeler, then slice it into thin, fry-shaped pieces—about 1/4-inch thick.
- To soften the jicama slightly before baking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the jicama fries and cook for 10 minutes.
- Drain and pat dry.
Season the Fries
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the jicama fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- Make sure the fries are evenly coated with the seasonings.
Bake the Fries
- Spread the seasoned jicama fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
Serve
- Remove the fries from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, ranch, or the optional garlic yogurt sauce.
- Enjoy!

Notes/Advice:
- Additions/Subtractions:
- If you prefer a crispier texture, you can bake the fries at a slightly higher temperature (425°F) and keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- Jicama has a mild flavor, so don’t be afraid to get creative with seasonings and spices to suit your taste.
- To make the fries extra crispy, you can finish them off under the broiler for 2-3 minutes after baking.
