Method
Prepare the Tart Crust
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and powdered sugar.
- Add the cold, cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the egg yolk and mix until combined. Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
- Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Prick the bottom with a fork. Chill for 10 minutes.
- Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from oven and set aside.
Prepare the Filling
- In a medium bowl, combine the toasted coconut, chopped macadamia nuts, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the filling mixture into the pre-baked tart crust, spreading it evenly.
- Return the tart to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the filling is set and lightly golden.
Serving
- Allow the tart to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your tropical delight!
Notes
