Ingredients

For the Brussels Sprouts
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for roasting
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste
For the Maple Glaze
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup preferably grade A
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar for depth of flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard for a hint of tang

Method

Preparation and Roasting
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to ensure the sprouts are evenly coated.
  3. Spread the Brussels sprouts onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Roast in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender and caramelized, stirring halfway through.
Making the Maple Glaze
  1. While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, prepare the maple glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard until well combined.
Final Touch
  1. Once the Brussels sprouts are done roasting, remove them from the oven and drizzle the maple glaze over the hot sprouts. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize slightly.
  3. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and then serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, consider sprinkling some toasted pecans or walnuts on top before serving. You can also substitute the maple syrup with honey for a different flavor. Adjust the amount of balsamic vinegar and mustard based on your taste preference.
